Singapore Showcase

Spend a day in Singapore and be inspired by the Possibilities in our Heartlands, City and Nation. The Singapore Showcase features multi-sensory exhibits and activities, and plenty of “instagrammable” moments.

Step into the HEARTLANDS zone and be welcomed by our friendly neighbourhood grocery shop, the familiar void deck and inviting basketball court. You can also satisfy your cravings for the salivating draw of the humble but yet explosively flavourful sambal chilli and salted egg crisps.

Work off the calories as you form teams to ‘pull the rickshaw’ and ‘carry rice-sacks’ to experience what our forefathers had gone through during the first few years of nation-building. While you are at it, pick up a few phrases of Hokkien or Teochew, so that you can better communicate with your grandparents the next time you call home.

In the CITY zone, the garden comes alive! Trees and plants line the iconic Bandstand and Tanglin Gate from our pride and heritage – the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Take a whiff at the scent stations and guess which plants are found in our City in a Garden. The little ones can embrace our heritage by dressing up in ethnic costumes and taking photos at the scenes of Chinatown, Little India, Kampong Glam and Katong. Challenging imaginations and creativity, local enterprising SME Naiise has recreated Singapore’s favourite icons into plushtoys and other memorabilia which you can collect. Be inspired by the boundless possibilities that the City has to offer.

Play a part in creating Singapore’s future in the NATION zone! Here, you can join the jubilation of a Passing Out Parade with fellow NS men, and pledge for the sovereignty and defence of the country. Be “wowed” by the good work of our youths through a series of youth expedition projects, and you can also contribute to Youth Corps to elevate Singapore’s standing in the region as we take on ASEAN Chairmanship 2018. Looking homeward, as part of the SG Cares movement, you may also support our local causes. You can express your thoughts and aspirations for the Nation through creativity and art in our “Site of Possibilities”. We the People will come together as One United People for a Common Future.

Finally, don’t forget to look for our latest Singapore icon – Otters – at Singapore Day 2018! They are hidden within the Singapore Showcase. Locate all of them and you stand a chance to win a pair of Singapore Airlines tickets for your next trip home.
